Map of Chiang Rai1. Where is Tigerland Rice Farm located?

Tigerland Rice Farm is located in Ban Huay Khom, a Karen hilltribe village in Thailand's northern most province of Chiang Rai.

Our farm is about 25km from the Chiang Rai International Airport and the Chiang Rai city. Although a mere half hour drive from the city, you will be pleasantly surprised to find yourself transported into a serene farm countryside with little signs of modernity.


Pick up from airport to Tigerland Rice Farm2. How to get to Tigerland Rice Farm?

We offer you free pick-up at either Chiang Rai International Airport or Chiang Rai city so you simply make your own travel arrangement to get there. Just let us know beforehand your flight details.

Alternatively, you may fly to Chiang Mai International Airport as there are more direct flights from Singapore and elsewhere to Chiang Mai than Chiang Rai. Chiang Mai is about 3 hours south of Chiang Rai. We'll arrange a car (up to 2 pax) or a van (up to 6 pax) to fetch you from the airport to Tigerland Rice Farm. There will be a nominal local transportation charge of THB4500 per van or THB3000 per car.


3. What is included in the experiential program fee?

Fee includes full board (breakfast, lunch and dinner), accommodation, transportation to/from Chiang Rai International Airport, mid-week visit to Chaing Rai night bazaar, half-day hilltribe cultural tour on the last day and guided experiential rice farming program.


4. What is the capacity at Tigerland Rice Farm?

Max 10 guests.


5. What is the accommodation like?

Authentic Karen hilltribe farmer's lodge that was designed and handbuilt by Father Gun and Kitt. It is simple, clean and comfortable. The Farmer's Lodge have 2 private rooms each able to take a family of 3, and common space and balcony that offer a further 4 guests open air sleeping space. Mosquitoe netting is available for everyone. There are 2 toilets - one of western seating type and one of squatting type. The shower room uses fresh cool water piped in from the mountain stream.

6. Are there modern facilities like wifi, TV, air-condition, hot water shower and mobile signals?

No wifi, no Internet, no TV, no air-condition, no hot water shower. Mobile phone signal is receiveable at a sweet spot by the balcony of the Farmer's Lodge.


7. Is there electricity for charging of phone, camera batteries, laptop?

Yes, we have a solar panel that provides electricity for charging of phone, camera batteries and laptop.


Farm gourmet8. What are the meals like? Are vegetarian and halal options available?

All meals are home-cooked by Mother Tomei at the firewood kitchen at Tigerland Rice Farm. She cooks with a variety of fresh farm produces that grow around the farm, as well as wild mushrooms, ferns and plants that grow in the forest nearby. If you have special requirement such as vegetarian or halal meals, or you prefer food with no chilli, please indicate in advance to Mother Tomei.


9. Is there medical facility nearby?

Hospital and medical centres are only 30 minutes away from Tigerland Rice Farm.


10. Is there shopping opportunity?

Night bazaar at Chiang Rai city offers an interesting shopping opportunity for local products, arts and crafts. There are also many shopping malls in Chiang Rai city.
